Responding to history, Brent Thomas enjoys the research involved in creating images that reference history. He enjoys collaborating with historians and listens carefully to their ideas. At times, for his own expressive art-making he likes to add his imaginative thoughts to an initial composition and allow additional findings and associations to accrete, thoughts that gradually come to mind consciously, until a new and less premeditated composition develops. The results can sometimes seem Surrealistic, but the images are actually the result of conscious thoughts that interconnect with historical prompts.
